Tough enough for the mountains, versatile enough for the urban jungle. More and more riders are looking for a performance eMTB that delivers on the trail, but also offers plenty of versatility when less 'extreme' tasks like commuting, shopping and general transport are on the agenda.

The new eONE-FORTY delivers just that - everyday usability and finely tuned off-road capability. The ability to easily fit mudguards, racks, kickstand and lights underlines the versatility of the new eONE-FORTY. E-mountain biking has grown up over the years. With this in mind, we took a hard look at our entire e-full suspension range and gave it a complete overhaul. Strongly influenced by the test and award-winning human-powered ONE-SIXTY and ONE-FORTY, our new e-full suspension range brings a long list of proven innovations, out-of-the-box thinking and ride-enhancing technologies to the table. 

WELCOME TO THE NEW eONE-FORTY

THE PERFECT EMBODIMENT OF THE SUV E-BIKE.

It shares an extensive list of attributes and features with its long-legged eONE-SIXTY cousins but deliberately diverges from them to create one of the most versatile e-bikes in the MERIDA range. We learnt from our original eONE-SIXTY that not every e-full suspension bike spends every rolling minute on demanding tracks and trails, but often finds itself having to tackle the urban jungle, where the well-sorted suspension, ample traction and comfortable geometry provide fun and confidence. The new eONE-FORTY continues the pioneering work of its predecessor and picks up right where it left off. It offers plenty of full suspension travel, a modern and well-balanced geometry, powerful and easy-to-control Shimano STePS motors, a large battery capacity and a long list of features that make the eONE-FORTY ready for any jungle, urban or otherwise. 

Similar to the eONE-SIXTY, its suspension travel has been increased to 150 mm front and 143 mm rear, and while it usually rolls on 29" wheels at both ends, the bike can be easily converted to a 'mullet' setup via the flip chip. Rear wheel travel increases to 151 mm. The easily removable internal battery has a capacity of 750 Wh, which can be extended by 360 Wh*. Compared to its 630 Wh predecessor, the total battery capacity has increased by almost 80%. The all-aluminium frame offers great value for money while maintaining stiffness and durability. The eONE-FORTY does without the flex pivot at the rear and uses a more conventional pivot at the seat stay to simplify the use of racks and mudguards, further emphasising the bike’s everyday versatility. We’ve also fitted lightweight kit and fast-rolling tyres to help keep the pace and fun high, whatever terrain you’re on.

EXCITING KEY INGREDIENTS

ADVANCED eMTB-SPECIFIC SUSPENSION

The suspension platform of the new eONE-FORTY is closely related to the FAST kinematic first seen on the ONE-SIXTY and ONE-FORTY platforms but has been further tuned for the needs of our eMTBs. It offers size-specific kinematics and progression, matching the frame size not only to the rider’s height but also to their riding style.

Our e-SUV also features a FLIP CHIP that allows the rear wheel size to be changed without affecting the geometry. While a full 29er set is normally used for fast rolling and maximum stability, when a bit more 'lively' off-road handling is required, a smaller 27.5" rear wheel can be fitted to help bring the bike alive even more. 

And finally, to give taller (and therefore normally heavier riders), as well as 'hard-hitting' riders who prefer a longer setup, more reserves and the support they need, as well as smaller, lighter riders, the ability to access all of their travel, we have made the progression size specific. So, the progression goes up as the frame gets bigger and is, therefore, size specific.  

GEOMETRY CONCEPT

THE GEOMETRY IS THE KEY FACTOR WHEN IT COMES TO THE HANDLING OF THE BIKE, ON THE TRAIL AS WELL AS IN THE URBAN JUNGLE

The new geometry has been heavily inspired by the test and award-winning ONE-FORTY, which offers impressive climbing-prowess and comfort-inspiring trail calmness. The new geometry is more progressive, with a longer reach, a more relaxed head angle and a steeper seat angle, but it has been optimised for e-bikes.

If you compare the human-powered ONE-FORTY to the new eONE-FORTY, size for size, the reach is slightly shorter as stability comes from the extra weight of the e-bike rather than the long wheelbase, while the shorter reach figure helps manoeuvrability with the heavier bike. The stack figure has been reduced over the previous generation of eONE-FORTY, giving the option of a more sporty riding position with a low front end. As with the ONE-FORTY, we believe it is better to be able to raise the stack with spacers or a higher rise bar to maximise the comfort and handling of the bike than to be stuck with a high head tube and not be able to lower the bar when a more sporty position is desired.

AGILOMETER SIZING

CHOOSE THE SIZE FOR YOUR RIDING STYLE

By now a staple of our performance-focused mountain bike range, our new eONE-FORTY models feature a simplified version of our proven AGILOMETER sizing. Long-travel dropper posts combined with a low stand-over height allow riders to choose their bike size based on handling preference rather than body size. XShort frames feature a 125 mm travel dropper post, Short a 150 mm travel dropper post, Mid and Long come equipped with 200 mm post travel, and the remaining XLong frames feature a 230 mm travel dropper post. Everything from long travel stability to short travel manoeuvrability and upright riding comfort is possible. The sizing changes from S, M, L to Short, Mid, Long etc. reflect the new sizing system.
 

TRAIL MOUNT

We have added the TRAIL MOUNT to our eONE-FORTY frames to allow additional accessories, tools and spare parts to be attached to the bike. It provides an additional mounting point under the top tube.

WIRE PORT

All cables, including shift, brake and dropper post cables, enter the frame through a specially designed headset cover, creating a tidy cockpit and reducing cable rattling. The proven WIRE PORT system can be found on the majority of road, mountain, gravel and full suspension bikes. We now use ACROS Block Lock headsets to prevent bar rotation from damaging the frame in a crash.

FRAME PROTECTION

Additional frame protection such as foil, rubber chainstay guards and down tube shields have been added and specifically placed to keep the bike looking good while working hard in the urban jungle and to reduce the impact and noise of trail debris. For added frame and rider protection, a range of fender styles can be fitted, including the long rear fender seen on the ONE-FORTY or classic full fenders.

Now a standard on modern mountain bikes, the SRAM UDH hanger is easily accessible, assists shifting and is ready to work with the latest SRAM Transmission drivetrains.

As one of the most influential and respected component manufacturers in cycling, Shimano has put all its design and engineering power into the STePS range to deliver unparalleled reliability and connectivity through the e-tube project app. With a well-established global service network, in the unlikely event that something does go wrong, they have world-class after-sales support.

With this in mind, we have equipped the new eONE-FORTY with the latest EP801 drive units, allowing us to offer our customers the perfect motor, battery and component mix for each of our electric full suspension bikes. The compact Shimano drivetrains offer the ability to build bikes with great geometry, class-leading performance and refined features.

At the top of the STePS motor hierarchy, the EP801 is aimed at performance-oriented mountain bikers. With a maximum torque of 85 Nm and a finely tuned engine setup, the EP801 fits perfectly into our e-full suspension line-up. Compared to its predecessor, the EP8, it delivers a maximum torque of 85Nm with a higher peak power (600W instead of 500W), giving you more support in demanding riding situations. The weight has been reduced to 2.6 kg by using a magnesium housing.

WELCOME TO THE MERIDA eTRILOGY

When the original eONE-SIXTY was released, it helped to usher in a new world of performance e-mountain biking. With incredible handling, sure-footed descending, and impressive climbing ability, it flourished into a multiple award-winning range of eMTBs – but the time has come to develop and evolve it further, so we have introduced our eTRILOGY of the eONE-SIXTY CF, eONE-SIXTY LITE and eONE-FORTY LITE. All are full-support e-bikes that use the latest technology, sizing and geometry advances first seen on the ONE-SIXTY range, but each ebike is tailored to suit a specific riding tribe. The carbon eONE-SIXTY CF gives full-power support combined with low weight for maximum agility, the eONE-SIXTY LITE offers a huge range in an enduro ready package and the eONE-FORTY combines off-road prowess and day-to-day versatility, further enabling riders to find the most suitable tool for their riding style.
