One of the most influential and respected component manufacturers in cycling, Shimano put all their design and engineering power into the STePS line-up to deliver unparalleled reliability and connectivity through the e-tube project app. With a well-established global service network in the unlikely case that something goes wrong, they have world-class after sales backup and support. DRIVE UNITS

SHIMANO EP801

New for 2023, the new EP801 motor unit sits at the very top of the STePS motor hierarchy, aimed at performance-orientated mountain bikers as well as trekking bikers with more sporty ambitions. Delivering a maximum torque of 85 Nm and a finely tuned motor set-up, the EP801 fits perfectly into our eONE-SIXTY and eONE-FORTY as well as the top eBIG.NINE models. In comparison to its predecessor, the EP8, it delivers a maximum torque of 85 Nm with a higher peak power, giving you more support during demanding riding situations. The connectivity has further improved, making the unit more future-proof and ready for the latest shifting technology. The extremely low weight and the compact size allow our designers to integrate the motor beautifully into the overall concept of each bike we use this system on.

SHIMANO EP6 (EP600)

Also new for 2023, the new EP6 motor offers a cost-effective alternative to the EP801 without lacking the smoothness and performance. The EP6 drive unit delivers the same 85 Nm of torque as the EP801 for excellent support in all situations, but with a slightly lower peak power output. From eONE-SIXTY and eONE-FORTY, all the way through the eBIG.NINE, eBIG.TOUR and eSPRESSO range, the EP6 is the proven go-to motor when performance, reliability and value for money are high on the agenda. Similarly to the EP801, the low weight and the compact size allow our designers to integrate the motor into the overall concept of the bike perfectly.

SHIMANO E5000

The entry-level of the Shimano STePS motors and the chance to experience smooth, reliable and easy-to-operate STePS technology at a lower price level. The compact, quiet and lightweight unit offers up to 40 Nm of controllable torque and is perfect for the city and trekking usage. The ability to combine the motor with a variety of different battery and display options allows us to provide options for all budgets and needs.

BATTERY

Like all other Shimano STePS parts, the batteries are compatible with all motors, shifters and display units so that the overall system can be perfectly tailored to the budget and the intended use. In our range, we utilise the internal 630 and 504 Wh battery options as well as the external 504 Wh for selective entry-level models. All batteries are fast charging and have high-capacity retention. They are also removable for easy transportation and ‘off the bike’ charging.

High-capacity 750 Wh battery

Manufactured by battery specialist Simplo, the high-capacity 750 Wh battery is one of the few in the world that is compatible with the Shimano STePS systems and is officially sanctioned by Shimano. The large capacity provides extended reach in even the most demanding riding situations. This fast-charging battery is extremely durable, has a waterproof design and is impact and vibration-resistant.

Top-level internal lithium-ion battery with 630 Wh capacity

The slim design of the BT-E8036 allows for slimmer and more attractive frame designs. Charges up from 0-100% in 5 hours (when EC-E8004 charger is used), and up to 50% in 2.5 hours. The battery is extremely durable and retains at least 60% of its original battery capacity after 1,000 charging cycles. It has a waterproof design and is impact and vibration-resistant.

Powerful lithium-ion batteries that offer 504 Wh

With the BT-E8035 and the BT-EN605 we have two 504 Wh batteries in our range. Both charge up from 0-100% in 5 hours (when EC-E6002 charger is used) and retain at least 60% of the original battery capacity after 1,000 charging cycles. The aluminium case of the internal BT-E8035 battery is extremely compact, allowing us to seamlessly integrate it into the downtube for ample space for the rear shock, added water bottle fixing points and plenty of top tube clearance. The compact design of the external BT-EN605 battery gives plenty of top tube clearance. A small LED display shows the charge level. Both options have a waterproof design and are impact and vibration-resistant.
