THE NEW eONE-SIXTY SL

POISE AND POWER

NO COMPROMISE E-ENDURO.

HUMAN-POWERED INSPIRED HANDLING.

The eONE-SIXTY SL represents a new breed of e-mountain bike, combining the poise of an unassisted bike and the power of a Bosch SX drive unit to help you ride further and faster. With a lightweight full carbon frame, 160 mm of balanced travel and a build that blends hard-hitting performance with low weight, it blurs the line between conventional and assisted riding. The growing e-bike market is beginning to fragment between those who value maximum battery capacity and those who want their e-bike to handle more like an unassisted bike.

Even a lightweight full-support e-bike has a significant weight penalty over an unassisted bike, so for 2025, we will expand our groundbreaking e-bike range to include our first ever light-support e-MTB - and our first ever Bosch-powered eONE-SIXTY.

BOOSTED POWER MEETS BALANCED HANDLING

The new eONE-SIXTY SL combines ‘human-powered’ bike handling and enduro tough but lightweight equipment with the latest compact Bosch Performance Line SX motor with 55 Nm, and a fully integrated 400 Wh battery, resulting in a total weight of around 19.5 kg. Instead of using fragile tyres and wheels to reduce the overall weight of the bike, we specify fit-for-purpose equipment that can withstand the rigours of enduro riding. We do not compromise on durability or performance to shave a few grams off the overall weight.

The eONE-SIXTY SL is aimed at enthusiast enduro riders who want the downhill agility and singletrack fun that a heavier, full-support bike can’t offer, but are willing to put in the pedal power to maximise the riding experience. The bike introduces a new suspension design, developed from the test and award-winning FAST kinematics first seen on the ONE-SIXTY and the new eONE-SIXTY lineup. It delivers 160 mm of rear wheel travel, paired with 160 mm up front, with 29er wheels as standard and enduro tough yet lightweight components. This new and exciting ‘no compromise’ platform perfectly complements the existing full-support eONE-SIXTY range.

THE CONCEPT

By combining Bosch’s Performance Line SX light-support drive unit with 55 Nm of torque and a weight of less than 2 kg with our specially designed lightweight carbon fibre frame and enduro-tough yet lightweight components, we achieved our target weight of 19.5 kg. This is around 3.5 kg lighter than our lightest full-support e-MTB. This gives the feel of a conventional mountain bike, but with a strong feeling of support when needed, making it the perfect enthusiast’s choice.

LESS WEIGHT. MORE CONTROL.

ELEVATE YOUR RIDE. LIGHTWEIGHT CARBON EXCELLENCE.

The new carbon-only eONE-SIXTY SL incorporates some key features of our award-winning and massively popular ONE-SIXTY and eONE-SIXTY platforms, such as its flexstay technology and AGILOMETER sizing. The flexstay suspension technology means we’ve removed a pivot point for less maintenance and lower weight, it is adjustable to work with full 29“ wheels or a mixed 'mullet' setup without changing the geometry.

By creating a frame with an extremely short seat tube and speccing them with long travel seatposts (size has been calculated with the help of an extensive database), it largely allows riders to upsize (for more stability) or downsize (for more agility) without being hindered by insufficient standover - adapting the proven AGILOMETER system to the eONE-SIXTY SL platform. The size specific posts were chosen over the travel adjustable ones due to the lower weight, which is a key part of the eONE-SIXTY SL concept.

THE GEOMETRY

ENDURO PERFORMANCE. SUPERIOR STABILITY, CLIMBING PROWESS, AND MANOEUVRABILITY.

To offer enduro-focused handling with the perfect combination of stability, climbing prowess and manoeuvrability, the new eONE-SIXTY SL looked closely at its e-powered and human-powered namesakes and adapted key elements of their geometry while finely adjusting others to perfectly suit the needs of the performance-orientated rider. It features a 64.0° head angle for greater stability, a 78.5° seat tube angle for a hyper-efficient climbing position, 466 mm (size Mid) reach for high-speed composure and 620 mm (size Mid) stack for an aggressive riding position.

As with the eONE-SIXTY, we have an AGILOMETER inspired sizing that combines an extremely short seat tube with a long travel dropper post, allowing riders to choose the frame size that best suits their riding style without the need for a shorter travel dropper post. The specified dropper post lengths have been calculated using an extensive database. While the eONE-SIXTY SL comes standard with 29“ wheels, the FLIP CHIP integrated into the seat stays allows the rear wheel size to be changed from 29“ to 27.5“ without affecting the geometry.

DESIGNED FOR ENTHUSIASTS

POWERFUL DESCENDER FOR MAXIMUM FUN

The new eONE-SIXTY SL is aimed at enthusiast enduro riders who want an agile and capable bike downhill and are willing to put in a decent amount of pedalling effort while using the assistance to maximise the fun. They are happy to accept a small reduction in battery capacity and motor power to achieve handling and manoeuvrability normally only achieved on non-powered enduro bikes. It will also be of interest to riders who regularly choose to ride unassisted, perhaps due to riding with human-powered riders, where the low overall weight is a significant help. Adding the PowerMore 250 Wh range extender to the 400 Wh battery makes the bike also attractive to riders looking for top-end performance and comfort on extended trail rides rather than full enduro capability.

POWER UNLEASHED

ELEGANCE MEETS PERFORMANCE

The heart of the new eONE-SIXTY SL is Bosch’s latest Performance Line SX light-support drive unit, which weighs in at just under 2 kg, helping our new light-support bike to achieve its target weight of 19.5 kg. The SX develops 55 Nm of torque with a peak output of 600 W, similar to other full-power drive units on the market, allowing trained riders to easily keep up with riders on full-support bikes.

The non-removable, integrated Compact PowerTube 400 Wh battery pack is lightweight and gives the frame a very low-profile appearance. If more range is needed, the PowerMore 250 Wh range extender battery can be added to provide full-support battery capacity. Finally, to control the motor and get vital information from the battery and power unit, we use a Smart Controller in the top tube and a Wireless Mini Remote on the handlebar for a sleek look, plus the option of a Purion 400 display.

FEATURES & INNOVATIONS

LIGHTWEIGHT PRECISION MEETS ENDURO TOUGHNESS

As weight is critical for this bike, it will only be available in a full carbon fibre frame to keep the overall weight of the bike as low as possible. The non-removable battery doesn’t require a downtube cut-out, further reducing weight by eliminating the need to add frame material to maintain critical frame stiffness. By combining the full carbon frame with the less than 2 kg weighing Performance Line SX motor and lightweight yet enduro-tough specification, we have managed to give our eONE-SIXTY SL the durability, grip and trail efficiency you expect from a MERIDA enduro-approved e-full suspension machine.

EXTRA RANGE AND VERSATILITY

For added versatility and increased range, the eONE-SIXTY SL can be fitted with a 750 ml water bottle or the Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender battery in the front triangle.

SUSPENSION DESIGN AND REAR SHOCK DETAILS

The eONE-SIXTY SL features a new suspension design inspired by the eONE-SIXTY and ONE-SIXTY but with a distinct and more integrated look. While it has its own distinctive details, it blends seamlessly into the MERIDA full-suspension family. It will have 160 mm of front and rear suspension travel and be fitted with full 29“ wheels as standard. The FLIP CHIP integrated into the seat stays allows the rear wheel to be changed to 27.5“ without affecting the geometry, but gives the rider improved bum clearance on steep terrain and slightly more 'lively' handling than the larger, more 'stable' real 29er wheel configuration. The eONE-SIXTY SL has a 230x60 mm rear shock and its progressive leverage ratio makes it coil-shock compatible.

SLEEK INTEGRATION AND A CLEAN COCKPIT

All cables, including gear, brake and dropper post cables, enter the frame through a specifically designed headset cover, creating a clutter-free cockpit and reducing cable rattle. The proven WIRE PORT system can be found on the majority of road, mountain, gravel and full-suspension bikes. We use ACROS Block Lock headsets to prevent bar rotation from damaging the frame in the event of a crash.

ADVANCED FRAME PROTECTION FOR EVERY RIDE

Additional frame protection such as foil, rubber chain stay guard, and downtube shield have been added and specifically placed to keep the bike looking good and reduce the impact and noise caused by trail debris. For additional frame and rider protection, the optional long rear fender, as seen on the ONE-SIXTY and eONE-SIXTY CF/LITE, can also be fitted.

BOOSTED BRAKE PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY

The eONE-SIXTY SL comes standard with 148x12 mm Boost and 200 mm Post Mount direct rear brakes for improved brake performance. On the front, the bike also comes equipped with a 200 mm front rotor for the perfect balance of weight and braking performance.

SMART ON-BOARD STORAGE WITH TUBE MOUNT

Neatly tucked away in front of the rear shock, our TUBE MOUNT base plate offers simple yet effective on-board storage for tubes and tools.

ENHANCED GRIP AND TRACTION

The eONE-SIXTY SL frames offer tyre clearance for up to 2.4“ tyres, allowing fit-for-purpose tyres for added cornering grip and uphill traction to be fitted.

TAILORED LIGHTWEIGHT DROPPER POST FOR ENHANCED AGILITY

To achieve a low overall weight, we specified size-specific long travel dropper posts. The length used has been carefully calculated with the help of an extensive database which has looked at hundreds of data sets to calculate the most appropriate length for each frame size. This, combined with the extremely short seat tube, still allows the majority of riders to make use of the proven AGILOMETER sizing system, where they choose their frame size based on the preferred riding characteristics and riding position, rather than just seat tube length. Only in rare cases, replacing the original post with a shorter travel post is needed. The 34.9 mm post size reduces stress on dropper post internals and the frame, further enhancing durability.

FAQs

Because the battery is fully integrated and cannot be removed by the user, there is no need for a large battery cut-out. The absence of a cut-out allows us to adjust the carbon lay-up in the downtube to achieve a durable and stiff, yet lightweight frame. Cut-outs also require additional material to be added to the downtube to maintain its stiffness and durability, which can be ignored when using a fixed battery.

On all eONE-SIXTY SL models, the 250 Wh PowerMore battery extender can be easily fitted in the 'water bottle' position, extending the range to 650 Wh. The range extender is not MERIDA specific and can be purchased from any bike shop that sells Bosch components. It is not included in the eONE-SIXTY SL package.

The eONE-SIXTY SL is Category 4 approved which means that enduro riding and racing are allowed and approved.

Although the eONE-SIXTY SL is fully enduro ready, we see the main user group in riders with an active riding style who are prepared to put a lot of pedalling power into their rides and therefore prefer a wheel configuration that rolls well over obstacles and maintains speed well. The ability to easily change the rear wheel size using the FLIP CHIP integrated into the seat stay provides ultimate flexibility for riders who prefer the more lively feel of the smaller 27.5" rear wheel.

Unfortunately not. The compact front triangle can hold either a 750 ml water bottle or the range extender.

Light-support bikes do allow a low overall weight, but this comes at the expense of outright support and battery capacity. Combining the full power drive unit with a large battery (around 600-800 Wh) gives great support and good range, but the overall weight is significantly higher, which affects handling in tight and twisty terrain. The ability to add a 250 Wh range extender can help bring the range of the two types of bike closer together, but the light support bike will always require a more active riding style (i.e. more pedalling) to keep up with a full-support bike. In summary, it depends on your riding style, the level of support required and the range you want to achieve, which of the two is your preferred choice.
