Pulling steadily away from the field
José Antonio Hermida and Joaquim 'Purito' Rodríguez of the MERIDA FACTORY RACING added another stage win to their tally at the 2019 ABSA Cape Epic and have managed to extend their lead in the Masters category even further. Now almost 17 mins ahead of the 2nd team, Jose analysed today's performance; 'Today was a pretty good stage. We made our tempo from the beginning but stayed with the main group, till roughly halfway through the stage, before we started to pull away slightly. We played it safe and did not overdo it to make sure that we keep something in the tank. In the end, we managed to add another stage win to the total and stayed out of trouble. Our target is very much to find the perfect balance between pushing, saving energy and not making any serious mistakes.'
After today's stage, the MERIDA FACTORY RACING is in 30th position overall and have a lead of 16:56min in the Masters category.
