SCULTURA 5000 named "comfort choice" in RennRad magazine
Germany’s RennRad magazine has tested the SCULTURA 5000 in their 'bestsellers' grouptest with an excellent review that culminated in the bike being awarded their ‘comfort choice’.
RennRad said that the low frame weight of only 997 grams (frame size M) and a "mechanical Shimano Ultegra groupset with a balanced gear ratio" make the SCULTURA a "mountain-compatible all-rounder" and that the groupset offers the usual first-class shifting performance.
The new SCULTURA has been designed to maximise comfort and well as low weight and aerodynamic performance, so it was good to see that our S-FLEX post design was praised, the tester saying: "The seatpost flexes very strongly, thus offering a lot of comfort and making the MERIDA interesting for long tours and cycling marathons." They added that the "riding comfort factor" is "one of the great strengths of the SCULTURA 5000" and that the bike delivers a "very high level of smoothness".
Thanks to the sleek cable integration of the WIRE PORT design, the bike also impressed the testers with its clean appearance. Our unique DISC COOLER heat sink brake mount design was also singled out: "Top: The disc coolers specially installed by MERIDA on the brake bodies ensure an even better performance of the Ultegra disc brakes by reducing the temperature of the brake callipers." In addition, the brakes showed a "very high absolute braking power and fine modulation", while the wheel and tyre combination offered "a high level of cornering grip and a lot of riding comfort".
They summed up the test by saying: "The MERIDA SCULTURA 5000 appeals to many different types of riders: It is long-distance oriented, versatile, very comfortable, smooth-running, well thought-out and equipped to a high standard."
