The Cape Epic winning 'trail' bike
Launched only last summer, the all-new ONE-TWENTY has been well received by the cycling press and riders alike. Two of those riders, who instantly took a shine to our 'jack of all trades' trail bike, were José Antonio Hermida and Joaquim 'Purito' Rodríguez who have been spending time on the bike since its launch but also were involved in the development and prototype testing of the 120mm 29er trail weapon.
When deciding on what bike to take to the 2019 ABSA Cape Epic, it was no surprise that the team went for the ONE-TWENTY. José explains, 'Well, we are fully convinced that the ONE-TWENTY is the bike of the future. This ultra-versatile machine is at the same level as the 100mm bike, with more or less the same weight but increased stability and 'safety', lightning fast acceleration and lots and lots of fun to ride, in particular when the course gets more demanding'.
Now with an impressive win in the Masters category of the Epic (including winning five individual stages as well as the prologue) under their belt, the ONE-TWENTY has clearly proven itself as the perfect bike for the demanding courses of the Cape Epic.
José and 'Purito' did some small changes to the ONE-TWENTY 9000 model they are riding, making it slightly more suitable for the demands of a week-long stage race, but their race machine is very closely related to the original bike.
