THE NEW eONE-SIXTY SL

POISE AND POWER

NO COMPROMISE ENDURO FOR ENTHUSIASTS

The new eOne-Sixty SL represents a new breed of e-mountain bike, combining the poise of an unassisted bike and the power of a Bosch SX drive unit to help you ride further and faster. Offering 160 mm of balanced travel and a build that blends hard hitting performance with low weight, the eOne-Sixty blurs the line between conventional and assisted riding.

BOOSTED POWER MEETS BALANCED HANDLING

The eOne-Sixty SL offers handling similar to a regular bike with light weight, coupled with enduro tough equipment. Adding the latest compact Bosch Performance Line SX motor with 55 Nm and a fully integrated 400 Wh battery results in a total weight of around 19.5 kg. Durability and performance haven’t been compromised to shave a few grams off the overall weight; the equipment we’ve selected has been designed to withstand the rigours of enduro riding.

The eOne-Sixty SL is aimed at enthusiast enduro riders seeking the downhill agility and singletrack fun that a heavier, full support bike can't offer; they’re willing to put in the pedal power to optimise the riding experience. The new suspension design was developed based on learnings from the test and award-winning FAST kinematics first seen on the One-Sixty and the new eOne-Sixty lineup. With 160 mm of front and rear wheel travel 29er wheels as standard this exciting, new, no compromise platform perfectly complements the existing full support eOne-Sixty range.

THE CONCEPT

The 19.5kg overall bike weight has been achieved by combining Bosch's Performance Line SX light-support drive unit with 55 Nm of torque, weighing only 2kg, with our specially designed carbon fibre frame and lightweight enduro components. The result is around 3.5 kg lighter than our lightest full support e-MTB, delivering the feeling of riding a conventional mountain bike with support there when needed; the perfect enthusiast’s choice.

LIGHTWEIGHT CARBON

LESS WEIGHT MORE CONTROL

The new carbon-only eOne-Sixty SL incorporates some key features from the award winning One-Sixty and eOne-Sixty platforms, such as flexstay technology and Agilometer sizing. The flexstay suspension technology removes a pivot point for less maintenance and reduced weight. The 29” wheels can be switched to a mullet setup, using the Flip Chip integrated into the seat stays, without changing the geometry.

The proven Agilometer sizing system has been adapted for the new platform; pairing an extremely short seat tube with long travel seatposts means riders can generally upsize to improve stability or downsize for greater agility without being hindered by insufficient standover. Learnings from the extensive Bikefit database helped optimise the dimensions. Size specific posts have been chosen over a travel adjustable version to help minimise weight; a key element of the eOne-Sixty SL concept.

THE GEOMETRY

SUPERIOR STABILITY, CLIMBING PROWESS, AND MANOEUVRABILITY

The new eOne-Sixty SL looked closely at its e-powered and human powered namesakes, adapting key elements of their geometry and finely adjusting others to perfectly suit the needs of the performance orientated rider. It features a 64.0° head angle for greater stability, a 78.6° seat tube angle for a hyper efficient climbing position, 466 mm (Mid size) reach for high speed composure and 620 mm stack (Mid size) for an aggressive riding position. As with the eOne-Sixty, Agilometer inspired sizing combines an extremely short seat tube with a long travel dropper post, allowing riders to choose the frame size that best suits their riding style without the need for a shorter travel dropper post.

DESIGNED FOR ENTHUSIASTS

POWERFUL DESCENDER FOR MAXIMUM FUN

The new eOne-Sixty SL is for the enthusiast enduro rider seeking an agile, capable bike downhill who's willing to put in some pedalling effort whilst using the assistance to maximise the fun. A small reduction in battery capacity and motor power delivers handling and manoeuvrability normally only achieved on regular enduro bikes.

The eOne-Sixty SL will also appeal to those frequently choosing to ride unassisted, maybe accompanying riders on regular bikes, where the low overall weight is a benefit. Adding a PowerMore 250 Wh range extender, available separately, to the 400 Wh battery makes the bike suitable for riders seeking top end performance and comfort on extended trail rides rather than full enduro capability

POWER UNLEASHED

Bosch's latest Performance Line SX light support drive unit is at the heart of the new eOne-Sixty SL. At just under 2 kg, this helps deliver an overall bike weight of 19.5 kg. The SX develops 55 Nm of torque with a peak output of 600 W, similar to other full power drive units on the market. The integrated (non removable) Compact PowerTube 400 Wh battery pack is lightweight, giving the frame a low profile appearance. If extra range is needed, a PowerMore 250 Wh range extender battery can be added to provide full support battery capacity. This is available from Bosch. A Smart Controller on the top tube and a Wireless Mini Remote on the handlebar create a sleek look.

FEATURES & INNOVATIONS

LIGHTWEIGHT PRECISION MEETS ENDURO TOUGHNESS

As weight is critical for this bike, it will only be available in a full carbon fibre frame to keep the overall weight of the bike as low as possible. The non-removable battery doesn’t require a downtube cut-out, further reducing weight by eliminating the need to add frame material to maintain critical frame stiffness. By combining the full carbon frame with the less than 2 kg weighing Performance Line SX motor and lightweight yet enduro-tough specification, we have managed to give our eONE-SIXTY SL the durability, grip and trail efficiency you expect from a MERIDA enduro-approved e-full suspension machine.

EXTRA RANGE AND VERSATILITY

For added versatility and increased range, the eONE-SIXTY SL can be fitted with a 750 ml water bottle or the Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender battery in the front triangle.

SUSPENSION DESIGN AND REAR SHOCK DETAILS

The new eOne-Sixty SL suspension was inspired by the eOne-Sixty and the One-Sixty. With its own distinctive details and a more integrated appearance, it blends seamlessly into the Merida full suspension family. 160 mm front and rear suspension travel and stable 29” wheels are fitted as standard. The Flip Chip integrated into the seat stays allows the rear wheel to be changed to 27.5" without affecting the geometry, providing an option for improved clearance on steep terrain and slightly more lively handling. The eOne-Sixty SL has a 230x60 mm rear shock, its progressive leverage ratio makes it coil-shock compatible.

SLEEK INTEGRATION AND A CLEAN COCKPIT

All cables, including gear, brake and dropper post cables, enter the frame through a specifically designed headset cover, creating a clutter free cockpit and reducing cable rattle. The proven Wire Port system can be found on the majority of road, mountain, gravel and full-suspension bikes. ACROS Block Lock headsets help prevent bar rotation from damaging the frame in the event of a crash.

FRAME PROTECTION

Additional protection such as foil, a rubber chain stay guard, and a downtube shield have been added to keep the bike looking good and reduce the impact and noise caused by trail debris. For additional frame and rider protection, an optional long rear fender can also be fitted.

BRAKE MOUNT AND AXLE STANDARD

The eOne-Sixty SL comes standard with 148x12 mm Boost and a 200 mm Post Mount direct rear brake for improved braking performance. On the front, the bike is equipped with a 200 mm front rotor.

TUBE MOUNT STORAGE

Neatly tucked away in front of the rear shock, the Tube Mount base plate offers simple yet effective on board storage for tubes and tools.

ENHANCED GRIP AND TRACTION

The eOne-Sixty SL frames offer clearance for up to 2.4" tyres., allowing fit-for-purpose tyres for added cornering grip and uphill traction to be fitted.

LIGHTWEIGHT DROPPER POST

To reduce overall weight, size specific long travel dropper posts have been fitted; a 34.9mm diameter reduces stress on the dropper post internals and the frame, further enhancing durability. Optimised seat post lengths, carefully calculated with the help of an extensive Smartfit database, combined with the extremely short seat tube, means that the majority of riders benefit from the proven Agilometer sizing system. This enables them to select a frame size based on their preferred riding position and characteristics, rather than just seat tube length.

In rare cases, eg for shorter riders, it may be necessary to replace the original with a shorter travel post.

POISE AND POWER

WELCOME TO THE NEW eONE-SIXTY SL

If you’re looking for human-powered handling and agility but want the support that only an assisted bike can offer, then the new eOne-Sixty SL could be your perfect trail and enduro companion. Combining a lightweight carbon fibre frame with progressive enduro geometry and the latest lightweight Bosch Performance Line SX motor and integrated battery, the latest addition to the eOne-Sixty family delivers 'poise and power'.

Light, agile, fast and endless amounts of fun, our new eOne-Sixty SL is the perfect e-enduro machine for riders with an active riding style.

Because the battery is fully integrated and cannot be removed by the user, there is no need for a large battery cut-out. The absence of a cut-out allows us to adjust the carbon lay-up in the downtube to achieve a durable and stiff, yet lightweight frame. Cut-outs also require additional material to be added to the downtube to maintain its stiffness and durability, which can be ignored when using a fixed battery.

On all eOne-Sixty SL models, the 250 Wh PowerMore battery extender can be easily fitted in the 'water bottle' position, extending the range to 650 Wh. The range extender is not Merida specific and can be purchased from any bike shop that sells Bosch components. It is not included in the eOne-Sixty SL package.

TheeOne-SixtySL is Category 4 approved which means that enduro riding and racing are allowed and approved.

Although the eOne-Sixty SL is fully enduro ready, we see the main user group in riders with an active riding style who are prepared to put a lot of pedalling power into their rides and therefore prefer a wheel configuration that rolls well over obstacles and maintains speed well. The ability to easily change the rear wheel size using the FLIP CHIP integrated into the seat stay provides ultimate flexibility for riders who prefer the more lively feel of the smaller 27.5" rear wheel.

Unfortunately not. The compact front triangle can hold either a 750 ml water bottle or the range extender.

Light-support bikes do allow a low overall weight, but this comes at the expense of outright support and battery capacity. Combining the full power drive unit with a large battery (around 600-800 Wh) gives great support and good range, but the overall weight is significantly higher, which affects handling in tight and twisty terrain. The ability to add a 250 Wh range extender can help bring the range of the two types of bike closer together, but the light support bike will always require a more active riding style (i.e. more pedalling) to keep up with a full-support bike. In summary, it depends on your riding style, the level of support required and the range you want to achieve, which of the two is your preferred choice.
