Top marks for the BIG.TRAIL 600 from Singletrack

BIG.TRAIL 600

Having tested the last generation of our BIG.TRAIL a couple of years ago, the Singletrack team were eager to check out what the latest version could do and where it might have improved from the already highly regarded bike.

To cut a long story short, they loved it, stating right at the start of the review, “The latest generation Merida Big Trail takes the previous incarnation and runs with it. It runs all the way to the top of the hardcore hardtail heap”.

Over the 6 months of testing, the review team loved the updates we made to the geometry, the surprisingly comfortable (for a hardtail) ride, the excellent choice of components (especially the brakes and long dropper post) and the completely silent ride, to name but a few.

They pointed out that the BIG.TRAIL “has the geometry (head angle, wheelbase, standover) and braking control to get down anything you care to point it down” and that while it offers amazing trail and descending capabilities, that they were “actually pleasantly surprised with its climbing ability”.

Their final verdict:
“…the Merida Big Trail is unarguably one of the best properly capable hardtails currently available.”

+ Massive standover
+ Great brakes
+ Not a harsh ride
