MBR says that “Merida has ticked all the boxes”

MBR magazine says the ONE-FORTY 10K is a “Consummate all-rounder” and that “Merida has ticked all the boxes”

We are very pleased to see another extremely positive review for the all-new ONE-FORTY, with MBR reviewing the top-end 10K model in print and online, saying that it possesses “all the traits most riders want from one mountain bike for all types of riding”.

The ONE-FORTY is designed as the perfect modern all-mountain machine, with 150 mm of front wheel travel paired to 143 mm at the rear, controlled by our new FAST kinematic suspension system.

As well as the new suspension system, the progressive geometry and AGILOMETER sizing concept came in for praise, with the tester saying, “with real attitude and some of the most radical trail bike geometry around, the new One-Forty is seriously cutting edge”.

The tester added: “Combine the great suspension with the heavy dose of stability, thanks to the stretched geometry, and a head angle that’s not so overly slack, and the Merida One-Forty maintains a nimble and easy to steer feel for a dynamic and engaging ride” adding that “I could confidently place the One-Forty wherever I wanted to on the trail and at a moment’s notice.”

“There’s great balance between stability at speed and nimbleness through tight twisty singletrack. It’s also really fast rolling on flatter, jagged ground as it doesn’t get snagged on square-edge hits.”

As any all-mountain machine needs to be just as competent on the climbs as the descents, it’s great to hear that MBR feels the ONE-FORTY hits the spot in this regard, saying that the 10K model is a “consummate all-rounder that’s a fantastic climber. Smooth, efficient and fast across the ground and very stable at speed” and that “It’s also exceptionally efficient uphill, maintaining shape and stability under high pedal loads”.

It's also a bike that grew on the tester as it was ridden: “Plenty of test bikes start to reveal flaws and niggles with extended riding, the One-Forty is one of the select few that kept getting better.”
