THE NEW eONE-EIGHTY

GET ROWDY ON REPEAT

RIDER FOCUSSED AND READY TO RIP

Calling all heavy hitters, bike park senders and big mountain brawlers, this one’s for you. The new eONE-EIGHTY has landed and it’s ready to ride the biggest lines and burliest tracks - and you can say goodbye to waiting in the uplift queue because it can rip and repeat all day long thanks to a big 800 Wh battery and Bosch CX power.

It’s our longest travel e-bike ever. With 180 mm of suspension at either end on a robust aluminium frame with a new suspension platform that builds on our award-winning FAST kinematic from the eONE-SIXTY and sends it to new heights. Add in coil shock compatibility, mixed-wheel size only setup plus a whole host of other features and getting rowdy is where the eONE-EIGHTY starts, not finishes. Up or down, it’s ready to rock. It’s also our first e-MTB to use the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit, which offers powerful assistance and silent performance with 85 Nm on tap. There’s also a serious amount of range thanks to the new 800 Wh battery - plus the option of a 250 Wh range extender.

THE CONCEPT

The new eONE-EIGHTY will do a whole load of things, from getting sendy in the bike park to self-propelled super enduro laps in the big mountains. We’ve balanced the geometry and handling so it’s got enough pop to put a smile on your face when you’re getting sideways mid air/mid corner/mid everywhere but it’s stable enough to make short work of the most chaotic tracks when playtime is over and you want to get the hammer down.

Want numbers? We’ve gone for a 64.5º head angle for a planted front end, 78.5º seat tube angle to keep you in the right place on steep climbs, plus a stack height of 661 mm and reach of 460 mm for the Mid frame. We’ve used our AGILOMETER sizing system, which allows you to pick your frame size based on the handling you want. Instead of seat tube length, we size the bikes based on the reach measurement. Go for a longer frame size for a more stable ride, go for a shorter frame size for a more agile and flickable feeling - or go in the middle for a balance of both. We’ve simply swapped Small, Medium and Large sizes, for Short, Mid and Long, so if you’re not sure what you want, just go with your regular frame size and you’ll get on with it just fine.

While our other e-bikes give you the choice of running a full 29“ setup or mixed wheel sizes, this is a bike for the party crowd, so it’s strictly mullet for the eONE-EIGHTY. We reckon everyone will appreciate the extra clearance and agility this brings, plus this is a bike for having fun on rather than setting fastest laps, but we won’t be upset if you do that too.

A WORK OF ART

A FRAME THAT’S BUILT TO SEND - AND LAST.

At MERIDA, working with aluminium is kind of our thing. We’ve been doing it a long time and we know how to get the most from it. That’s why - being modest - we think the eONE-EIGHTY frame is a minor work of art. We’ve used our 6061 series aluminium alloy, which is hydroformed into shape and then the main triangle is robot welded before being finished by hand in our factory in Taiwan. It’s rated for Category 5 riding too so you can get stuck into as many bike park laps or downhill tracks as you like without voiding the 5-year warranty.

FLEXIBILITY IN FOCUS

EASY BATTERY SWAP AND SPACE FOR WATER OR RANGE EXTENDER

With a frame cut out, you can easily remove the battery for off-bike charging or replacement on a really big ride, plus we’ve also got a new cover that protects from dirt, impacts and moisture - and it holds itself in place with the magic of Fidlock magnets. There’s space in the front triangle for a water bottle to keep your energy levels topped up, or you can keep the battery levels topped up instead and fit the 250 Wh PowerMore range extender.

STIFFER, SAFER, SMARTER.

ENHANCING YOUR SUPER ENDURO LAPS

We’ve also gone for the latest long-travel single crown forks and future proofed it by adding in 1.8“ steerer compatibility, an Acros Block Lock headset to keep the handlebars from getting too friendly with the top tube plus we use our WIRE PORT cable routing system to keep things looking sleek up top. It’s also got all the usual mod cons like a SRAM UDH, a 220 mm front brake rotor, the ability to run 220 mm at the back and our usual TRAIL MOUNT accessory mount and saddle-mounted multitool.

EXCELLENT KINEMATIC

NEW SUSPENSION PLATFORM WITH A HELL OF AN APPETITE

There’s a saying that quantity has a quality all of its own - so when it comes to suspension, we’ve thrown quantity at the eONE-EIGHTY and kept the quality too. With 180 mm of front and rear travel, you can let it eat on rough trails - and it has a hell of an appetite. Our new suspension platform takes what we’ve learned from the award and test-winning FAST kinematic seen on the ONE-SIXTY and eONE-SIXTY, but we’ve made some adjustments.

NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT

The first is that we’ve added a pivot point on the seatstay instead of using our flexstay system. Why? Because we’ve upped the travel and that means more movement between the chain and seat stays than a flex pivot can safely cope with. We’ve also removed the yoke that drove the shock, as our engineers have figured out a way to get an excellent kinematic without it. That saves us weight, reduces complexity and gives a more compact design but it also means less side loading on the shock, which is important on a bike that’s designed to get hammered all day long.

Designed to work with the latest highly linear air shocks such as the RockShox Vivid Air, it’s got a fully progressive leverage ratio that plays nice with coils too. We’ve kept the size-tuned kinematics that increase progression as you move up the sizes, so shorter and lighter riders can access full travel, but heavier and taller riders get the bottom-out support they need.

UNLEASH THE BEAST

MOUNTAIN GOAT AND DOWNHILL DEMON

The new Bosch Performance Line CX motor is no joke. While the 85 Nm of torque means it can climb like Baphomet himself (he’s both a goat and a demon, so we assume he’s good at both) it has also been updated to have best-in-class thermal stability. What that means is you can tackle the toughest, steepest and longest climbs over and over again and the drive unit will consistently deliver maximum power without having to limp off and take time to cool down.

Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery

Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender

Bosch Wireless Mini Remote

Bosch Smart Controller

Bosch Purion 400

Add in the new Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery and that means a whole load of riding time. With an incredible 205 Wh/kg energy density, it delivers the most punch to weight of any battery in the Bosch arsenal. For example, the previous Powertube 750 Wh offered up 174 Wh/kg - and getting more range for the weight has got to be a winner. If that’s not enough to satisfy your lust for range, you can also fit the 250 Wh PowerMore range extender. Weighing just 1.6 kg and fitting to the water bottle mount on the frame, it’s an easy way to ramp up your ride time. Hell, why not throw a couple in your pack and really go to town on a mountain range or two.

We’ve kept the controls and displays basic - there’s the Bosch Wireless Mini Remote on the bar to control everything and the Smart Controller integrated into the top tube that shows battery life and assistance level. You can pick from Bosch’s extensive range of displays if you want more information - but we reckon you’ll want to keep your eyes on the trail ahead, not a screen.
